As CBI Insights noted, the startup battlefield is flush with billion dollar babies. The rise of the "Unicorn"; a private company valued at over $1B prior to their IPO, has been rapid. In the last two years, the total amount of unicorns have doubled and the sharing economy has blossomed, but it's not all sunshine and DM's. The first unicorn has fallen, and the herd looks nervous.
Not all companies make it to IPO. As the industry fragments into an "Uber for" economy, and continues to rely on questionable labor practices, this list will only grow.
